Saint Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive school with the children at the heart of every decision we make. We have a team of hardworking and committed staff who have high expectations and are dedicated to doing the very best for all children. The school has a strong tradition of working closely with parents in order to support children in achieving their best.
We believe that children should be curious about their learning, both in and out of the classroom. We want to help them to fulfil every aspect of their potential, so that they are ready for secondary school and the world that awaits them as they grow older into adulthood.
We place great importance on learning in the core areas of English and Maths as the children need these skills and knowledge embedded by the time they leave primary school. We also strongly believe in a curriculum that allows learning across subjects and topics, where children link neurons and make connections.
We are firm believers in children possessing a Growth Mindset and both our children and staff have spent time understanding this – how our brains can grow and that we don’t have a fixed intelligence.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we provide daily learning opportunities for the children to flourish – spiritually, socially, and emotionally with the Catholic ethos at the heart of our mission. This ethos is lived out through signs of Christ’s teaching in the school; the way we behave and care for each other as one large family and through our service to society. Our culture and aims promote the Gospel values and the dignity of the human person; each child is a precious individual. These ideals form the basis from which we grow our conscience; our values, motivations, aspirations, choices and actions. We teach the Gospel values in RE lessons, assemblies and liturgies but also throughout the day, permeating our interactions with each other. The Christian ethos is central to our teaching and learning and is what makes our school special.
We teach tolerance and understanding of different faiths and beliefs while simultaneously having respect for the recognised Fundamental British Values. We ensure that these values are not only shared but celebrated throughout the daily life of our school.
We welcome you to come and visit us and our school.
Mr C Andrew
